Hey, just a quick question I thought you smart lot could help out with.

In school, with my laptop, I can connect to the internet, use IE7 etc. and msn, but anything else that tries to connect... Won't. Be this BF2, IRC, Xfire, any other online games.

Now, the question. Is it possible to connect with some of these things (mainly BF2) via changing settings from my laptop?

Our admins are like Nazis and want to put crap on my laptop so they can monitor me, so I know if I ask them about it they will either turn me down or something worse.

Any help would be greatly apreciated, thanks.

If youre admin's are any good they will have everything locked down on the school firewall via your user profile in AD

But there must be somewhere that has unrestricted access..... try your school admin office or such like ...try finding their user names or remoting into the system...

Or bribe an admin!

Well a few of my friends know the admin password.

I don't use a username to log on, I just connect straight to their unsecure wireless from my laptop... Would I be able to change something If I can log in with the admin pass then?

If you can log in with the admin password you should be able to connect to anything...inc bf2..

Chances are they've locked down the ports you need on the school's firewall. Logging in as an admin probably won't do anything unless you know how to get to the firewall and reenable the ports you need. The problem is once you do that, they're open for everyone and one of the admins is going to notice. You're better off looking for another segment on the network to connect to that isn't so locked down. Honestly, I'd say you're screwed. Anything you do to open up these ports is going to get you in serious trouble.

Yeh, that sounds like my problem.

I'm too nice to go really far, so I'll just have to stick with singleplayer...
