He's past it.

America sucks at football (soccer to you yanks. And face it, you do. Beaten by Korea in the world cup, as I recall.)

2 + 2 = 4: He can't keep up with the brazillians and africans dominating the sport in europe.

My point is Does he need it?
With his wifes spending habbits, yes, he probably does.
He is making 10 millions a year, playing in the first level.  Why would he leave the football he loves to play in a low quality league?
Because his contract at Real Madrid expired and they aren't renewing it and he's been offered an enormous wage in the US.

The way his wife spends money he probably needs it and he's not anywhere near as good as he used to be. I hope he won't be playing for England so much with this transfer, Lennon would be a better option in that position.

Korea also beat Italy in that world cup, they're current world champions.

I don't know why people in this country want to spend that much money for the nation's 9th/10th most popular sport.

Anyway, I don't know why someone wants to pay that sum of money for a player who only is a good free kick and corners shooter.

Personally I think this is where Beckham goes because he can't keep up in the A level leagues anymore.  He's a dead ball specialist only now.  Plus who cares?  We americans will never compete in the game until we stop calling it soccer and call it what it truly is, Football.

That's why he went there. Based on his recent performances no one else is going to pay him a big fat salary like he's used to. It's the US or J-League for Becks now.

He will fit right in with our silly cultures' infatuation with celebrities. God only knows why some people follow the red carpet like that.   However, we will gladly take him since I am sure he has his proper Visa, and will pay his income taxes:P

On his return to London earlier The Beckams jump in a taxi and tell the driver to take them to thier designated hotel. As the journey begins the driver looks in the rear view and says "Alright Mr Beckam, where have you been this time".

"Were returning from holiday".

"Oh nice" says the taxi driver "anywhere nice and hot"?

"Yeah" says Dave.

"Well do tell me" asks the driver, "where was it you went".

Dave is puzzled "Ummmm, Errgggh, Arrggghh Ummmmmm, help me out" says Dave, "Whats the name of that famous Train Station in London again"? he asks the driver.

"Kings Cross"?,           no
"Liverpool St"             no
"Charring Cross"          no
"Euston"                     no
"Victoria?"                 "aye" says David, "thats the one".

"Victoria, where have we just come back from again"?

yeah publicity but people dont watch soccer here in U.S. its not broadcasted like the other sports, its just sideway sport it does not get that much attention he may get some publicity since he is famous but dont think he is going to get that much out of it being in U.S. he may have his run but overall popularity wise he wont sway the whole nation to watch soccer.
uh soccer is broadcast on cable here in the states frequently. just because you don't watch it doesn't mean it's not there.
I dont think its there unless you request to pay extra and also its not one of the main sports, its like a last sport here in United States.
