Not into industrial?  Older bands still around like Ministry or Skinny Puppy.

Disturbed, Crystal Method, Faith No More, Lacuna Coil, APC, Tool,.

If you like Alice In Chains, you should listen to Mad Season, it was a side project for Staley.

Your probably not into Extreme metal but more likely bands about metalcore heavy so some good bands for that would be:
Between the Buried and Me
Glass Casket
Maroon
Darkest Hour
Strapping Young Lad
Darkane
Dark Tranquility
Kalmah
Cynic (although they are older)
Burn In Silence
At the Gates (also older but very good)
The Acacia Strain
Stick To Your Guns
Gojira
edit: forgot a couple other bands - Daylight Dies, My Dying Bride, and Ahab.

Most of the other bands i listen to that are about as heavy as these bands have already been mentioned earlier in this thread as well.

I was gonna karma you for Dark Tranquility and Gojira but then I saw your name was trivium... they are a sad excuse for metal. All their albums are metalcore except for their latest, which is just a badly done Metallica ripoff.

Now to the OP - if you want weird metal that nobody but me listens to, look no further

frankie is right. lars is good. i listen to a lot of punk and ska, mostly ska lately tbh. and the punk bands i do listen to are a little older than recent.

i can tell you what i listen to, and you can pick and choose from that. this is probably the easiest way to do this. keep in mind that i like all subgenres of punk and ska, so you're going to get a range here.

Haha.  I am so sorry I sent you that last Trivium CD.  I haven't listened to them in ages, and am damn proud of it.

I'd agree with Bobby on all of his orange highlighted ones.  I guess I'll just throw my favorite bands into the mix (although none of these were created in 2000's, give them a chance)  If you are looking for good music, you have to go back in time or just wait until one of the bands I will list below come out with a new CD.

Death Metal/Melo-Death/Technical Metal
Amon Amarth
At the Gates
Dark Tranquility
Hypocrisy
Strapping Young Lad
All Shall Perish
Manntis
As Blood Runs Black
The Faceless
Cryptopsy
Necrophagist
In Flames
Opeth
Theory In Practice
Death
Lamb of God
Scar Symmetry

*Note = These bands do not sing.  They scream.  No singing.  Got that?

Metalcore/Deathcore
Darkest Hour
As I Lay Dying
Bleeding Through
All That Remains
Destroy the Runner
God Forbid
The Agony Scene
Trivium
It Dies Today
Still Remains

These bands scream, yet sing the chorus achieving a good balance between metal and hardcore; hence - Metalcore/Deathcore (depending on how heavy they are)

Power Metal/Folk Metal
Sonata Arctica (these guys are amazing, trust me)
Ensiferum
...and the two highlighted which Bob mentioned

These bands sing (Sonata Arcitca [all the time], Ensiferum [sometimes]).

Hope this helped!

It is true that my name is Trivium but its because I've had this name for a very long time when playing video games. I have been listening to them for a very long time, about the time they barely released their first CD embers to inferno and would also listen to their demo Cd's.

I don't care for their new CD at all but i keep this name because it's the one I have been using for a long time and it's also the one that all the people I play with know me by. If i were to update it, it would probably be named after the technical death metal band Neuraxis or Vehemence (even though they broke up) but I'm not going to as to avoid confusion.

You don't have to explain yourself, you like what you're into. At least you're not listening because "tis the thing to to do" rock on mate!

Post-2000:
DragonForce (actually mentioned before, but I'm seconding it. They do rock big-time, and are taking the piss out of the scandinavian power metal spectrum by going cliche.)
Exit 10 (apparently 'melodic metal' now, though they used to do mostly punk covers. But check them out anyway, I went to school with these guys, and they have serious talent. Ask nicely and I can dredge up a batch of their earlier work.)
Static-X (electronicy dance music-y metal.)
The Mad Capsule Markets (To J-rock as heavy metal is to Cliff Richard. Described by my friend as 'hyped up Japanese death metal'.)
Chimaira (Fast, hard, loud, and good, but not very deep. Stress relief, mainly.)
Machine Head (As above, but slower, heavier, and a bit deeper. Kinda generic.)
Lordi (Rubber monster suits. Heavy rock. Eurovision 2006 winners. No more need be said.)

I don't like much in the way of new bands. Quite frankly, I'm not into the 'scene' enough to get hold of new bands, the whole 'nu' movement was frankly pretty bad, and the metalcore stuff coming onto vogue now frankly isn't as good as the classic stuff, IMO. Trivium are good, but they're no Iron Maiden.

So, pre-2000 stuff:
Judas Priest
Fear Factory
Blind Guardian
Rammstein
Queensrÿche
Bon Jovi (Cheesier than a herd of cows, but good)
Rage Against The Machine (Virtually prophetic)

REALLY classic stuff you should check out, to get a sense of history:
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Deep Purple
Queen
Gary Moore
Dire Straits
The Rolling Stones
GZR (Sabbath with newer metal vocalists)
ZZ Top
Uriah Heep
Jethro Tull
InfectiousShadow
BF2S Resident Bass Player

you might want to add Rush and Yes to the classic stuff as well as Cream(Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker)

I don't know which the problem is with The Crusade, it remembers me the best Metallica.
