I recently purchased a saitek cyborg graphite without a twist handle. Recently after I bought it I realized how frusterating it was to fly without a twist handle. I decided to bite the bullet and continue using it. I was wondering if there were any other pilots out there who can sucessfully fly planes without a stick handle, and if so I'm curious of what keymappings have worked for you.

I used the same controller for Desert combat and had no problems. I don't remember the button numbers, but there are 3 in a row and I mapped the outside 2 for my rudder controls. It took a while to get used to, but I can't fly with my new joy at all after playing that way. My flight stats suck on BF2.

I've just finished my setup-session for my Wingman joystick.

The Z-axis is never correctly calibrated,it always lets you crash in a nice twisted deathroll...so I use my arrow keys for thrust and steering and the stick for nose up&down and rolling.Works pretty well.

I hav a joy-stick for flight sims and wat not but i never use it. For BF1942 the deafault was where you used the WASD keys for steering but you also used the mouse roller for pitch, which works quite well.
Now for BF2 I use the mouse for steering, which aint much fun but since I rarely fly about in a plane I haven't bothered changing the settings or getting the hoy-stick to work with the game succesfully (I had problems with it working in BF1942 also).

Using the mouse aint easy but it is do-able, although I've never bombed anybody succesfully in a plane

I use just the mouse(5 button MS Trackball) and keyboard... I set the up and down (Keyboard) to accelerate and deselerate... left and right are rudder left...rudder right... the trackball does the rest of manuevering. the keys on the mouse are for weapons switching and firing of course.

I use my logitech G15 keyboard - allows you to assign keys to perform tasks... so I can hit 1 key and perform 5 barrel rolls for example.. very cool.
