Does using IRC invetibly lets virus into your com? Like dcc send file etc. I heard mirc scripts has spyware etc too. Is this true? And which is the most reliable IRC client?

Anytime you download something you risk getting a virus if it's coming from a untrusted source. If what you say was true then no one would be using IRC at all. I never had any problems with spyware in scripts when I was on IRC a lot. At the time I used mIRC or ViRC, but that was a couple of years ago, so there may be better clients out now.

okay here is from someone with over 10 years of irc experience (and i m not talking for chatting purposes)

noone will ever get a virus/worm/trojan/... through irc if they know what the hell they are doing
if you request a movie and suddenly you get a send coming to you that's 5MB executable or even the right format but totally wrong says, DECLINE... dont hang around in channels where you get a lot of spam messages, keep your firewall/antivirus on and scan anything you download before you open it. there is still a select few that can hack you without any help from your lack of experience/intelligence.. but the chances of them finding you out of the millions of people on irc and doing it are astronomical so relax, use your head and you ll be fine

as far as good irc clients visit www.mircscripts.org if it is good, it ll be there personally i use a version of ChaosIRC which i added some custom scripts to, to do exactly what i want
