WTF? He was cut in bloody half and fell down a god-knows-how-deep shaft with probable electricity and nasty burning things at the bottom?> He didn't die??
Man Lucas, you've got some explaining to do.
Oh and for the record, Temuera Mossiron was awesome as Jango Fett/Clones, it was just really strange hearing a Maori/Kiwi accent in a Science Fiction film.

Jar-jar=Death to movie
Anakin(young)=BAD ACTOR

Besides those MAJOR flaws I was pretty impressed with the movie.  The only reason most people do not appreciate it very much is because they are comparing it to the original and the style in which the original was made.  If you compare them to most sci-fi movies, you realize that they are really pretty good.

Eh i thought this would come up. I'll do a quick sum up.

It's because of the kind of being that Maul is. He has amazing regenerative abilities(think Wolverine) plus the blade cauterized his wound. stopping him form bleeding out. He was very much "dead" in a technical sense but not in a "real" sense. His organs were still working. He went into a Force sleep which kept him alive long enough for Sidious to find him. Sidious gave him a set of robolegs and brought back Maul's shattered body into existence.
Maul, alive once again renewed his pledge to eradicate the Jedi and underwent a secret training during the clone wars. He became the Emperor's Hand after Ep III(basically a hitman for the emperor) and hunted down the Jedi who had evaded the purges. Maul's existence was kept secret to everyone, even Vader. Eventually, while looking into a rumor of a strange hermit on Tatooine, he wnet to the planet and accidentally sensed Luke in the Force. He did not relay any of this to Palpatine because he needed to keep his cover.
Obi-Wan, having sensed Maul's malevolent presence once again set out to find it. He got there just as Maul arrived at Luke's homestead. Maul, seeing his nemesis abandonned his assassination attempt and dueled Obi-Wan. After a fierce fight,Obi-Wan killed him outright with a thrust to the head. He destroyed Maul's saber and burned the body. Palpatine never found out how or where his agent died, but knew that a Jedi was the cause.

BTW the shaft Maul fell into is similar to the tunnel that Luke fired his torps into to destroy the Death Star. Maul didnt land in the actual lightning part of the Naboo generator but on the floor near it.

Nothing ruined Star Wars for me...at least not for Episodes 4-6. I have the untinkered editions, so I'm cool with whatever Lucas decides to do with his shit. I only wish that he worked harder on character development for the prequels...but he made money, so who's to argue? He could probably sign his name and doodle a picture of Yoda on a dried horse turd and sell it for $30k.

All hail the master...

Personally, I saw the first ones as a kid.  I was much older by the time the new ones came out.  I bet if I were a kid still, I'd like the new ones.  Nothing can compare to the childhood exuberance, and pure watching without expectation or assumption.  I think the first trilogy hit the world at the right time.  Everyone seems a little more serious these days, making it hard to pull sometimes cheesy graphic effects off, and characters like Jar Jar.  Jar Jar would have been a megastar in the 80's.  He would have gotten his own sat morning cartoon.

I thought he had it better than the older, whinier Anakin. You can fault Lucas for having lost the ability to work with actors, though. And don't give me the "but Samuel L. "Snakes on a Motherfuckin' Lightsaber" Jackson" made it all worth it" bit.

Can you pm me a source to read up on that.  This isn't a challenge, it just sounds like a cool story to read.

They've been out for a while(in the US), but they're only in stereo, no 5.1.
