I use Azureus to download torrents (only legal ones naturally). Since upgrading to a C2D I've found that it crashes every few minutes. If I set the CPU affinty so that it only runs on a single core it's ok.

What I want to know is, does anyone know a way of setting the CPU affinty so that Azureus only ever uses one core? It's a pain in the arse having to manually set it through task manager every time I open it.

It never crashes on my C2D =/ Reinstall java and see if it fixes it.

I'm guessing you got the 6600.  I think it's jinxed, everyone has problems when they get the 6600 version.

I don't have a problem with mine.

Nope 6300. Runs perfectly for almost everything else.

It is the CPU utilising multiple cores that is the problem. Changing the affinity fixes it. But I would like an easier way of doing it. It's only because I'm running an Nvidia firewall, I don't want to stop running it.

I've updated and reinstalled Java, it's nothing to do with that. Apparently this is quite a common issue (according to Azureus Wiki).

No one can think of any clever registry tweaks or suchlike that would do it for me?

I've considered it. In fact I've gone as far as downloading it, but haven't installed.

I've been using Azureus for the past few years and don't really want to switch.

I know there is a utility called something like Prioaff that lets you set the priority and affinity of a program through the commandline of the shortcut..  Maybe that could help you.

I've figured it out. I can use the start command in a cmd shell on a shortcut to launch the app.

Thanks for those with valid suggestions.

I would recommend utorrent.. used azureus for 2 months then tried utorrent. Dunno if azureus has it nowadays but uTorrent was able to let you choose specific files to dowload from a torrent, and it downloads faster on my PC.

Azureus does that too. Let's you choose the files you want to download. Is uTorrent that much faster?

I find Azureus is the fastest (if you set it up exactly right and use the right plugins). It's also nicely configurable, which is very important.
