Hey guys Im looking at buying a new video card, my x850 i guess overheated somehow and now i get atrifacts alot during game and is starting to lag more and more so i was looking at buying a new card i was looking at a 7950GT cuz the price isnt that bad and seems to be fast.
but i was wondering what you guys think too? if there is a better card less then 300?
and if anyone has a 7950GT that can post screen shots of gameplay and how its running?

Thanks

I wouldn't buy a DX9 card these days, hang in there, the DX10 cards will cost less soon enough.

i agree although i really like my 7900Gt the 7950's are better, but from what i hear wait for new driver releases for the 8800 series then buy it, will be worth the extra money

They should start dropping quite a bit now, certainly by late january, and definetly by march.  New cards from both ATI and Nvidia mean more competition, replacement flagship's, pushing the cost's down and soon enough, 8600 (or something like that) probably going for around 25% less than the 8800GTS, after price reduction.  So your looking at dx10 in march for around $250 I should think.  May as well wait, if you cant, just buy a 7600GT for around $100, should keep you going for a while

Not true. The raw performance increase via unified shaders is significant over all other current cards on the market now. DX10 or not.

Uploading some screenshots from a coop game with my little bro. Settings are mostly high with lighting and such and aa is a bit lower for faster load times and smoother framerates for myself. (always above 70)

Edit for screenshots, not the best quality/resolution, and 2nd and last screen shots are from an online round of karkand:

The one mentioned in my sig, leadtek 7950gt 512mb, only goes down to 70's during arty, but that's with everything cranked. I keep it lower for when i'm sniper, easier to pick out targets at longer ranges.

Would really urge you to wait, otherwise you will be back on here in less than a year asking what DX10 card should I buy lol.
