Well, I'll be heading back up to school on the 8th so I can actually play BF2 again. It's been a couple weeks off and I now know what withdrawl feels like...but all in all, I can definitely say the time off was worth it. Why, you ask?
I got a joystick. I'm not too bad of a pilot with mouse and keyboard, but I really like flying in this game and I thought a joystick would help a lot. It's not the best, but it's by no means shabby. A Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.
I got a headset so I can finally use VOiP. Also, I can finally play late at night without waking up my house mates. They're not the nicest set, but they'll definitely do the job. Altec-Lansing...don't know the model name.
And the two things I'm happiest about...
another gig of RAM and a new soundcard!
newegg.com, oh how i love thee. Right now I'm running 1gig of RAM and I'm by no means complaining, but I'd like to be able to load into games more quickly and perhaps get less lag as well. Upgrading to 2gigs should not only be nice for BF2, but is just a good upgrade for my compy in general.
I got the X-Fi XtremeMusic soundcard. This is a huge upgrade over my Soundblaster Live! 24-bit card that BF2 won't even recognize, thus forcing me to use software and have my audio set on lowest. Nothing like going from the lowest setting to the highest setting in one upgrade.
...ok so really this post has no point. i just wanted to gloat and feel good about myself. let the flaming begin!
