Finally got my parts, question numbero uno

Ok so i finally got all the parts i need to complete my new Rig.
I got the PC up and running and im starting to overclock it a bit, but know i allready stumbled into the first problem.
Is there a way to lower the multiplier somehow on a asus p5w-dh-deluxe mobo?, in some articles they say it can be done, and some say it cant, and some say its only possilbe when changing my mobo with a gigabyte DS3
I really would like to go to 400 FSB and higher, but my CPU wont let me go beyond 3.4 GHZ.
So i cant go higher then 377 FSB.
anyone?

specs:

Core2Duo E6600
asus p5w-dh-deluxe
Corsair 2GB PC8500 dominator.

Ive come accros this article , but its for the p5b mobo, i hope there an bios update for the p5w-dh-deluxe to.

What CPU? 377FSB is not bad for that MB chipset.

Yes, you can lower the multiplier on a P5W DH. You just need to upgrade the BIOS. Can't remember which version brought in the ability to lower the multiplier, but the latest BIOS is v1707.

The option appears under the CPU section of the Advanced screen of the BIOS.

Yup it's great, managed to get an Orthos stable 50% overclock on a E6600 from 2.4Ghz to 3.6Ghz, which I think is damn impressive on air. Run it at 3Ghz normally as the temps @ 3.6 are a bit too much for my liking, so I have to ramp up the fans which is something I really don't want to do in a "low noise" system.

But yeh, great choice Cosworth.

I never did a bios update in my life, bacause i was a bit scared of doing it i guess.
So i got a few question, i did some searches on google and on the asus site, but didnt find the answers i was looking for so here goes.
When i did the update, will my Raid array still be there?, and the only thing i have to do is setting the IDE setting on RAID in the bios?, and everything is fine then.
Or do i have to make a new array?

I want to update it in dos mode, so i have a floppy drive, and i allready copied the 1707.rom file onto the disk, But what to do next?
I dont have a clue, so any info or links would be nice.

You should see some basic instructions in the manual. Your RAID array should be unharmed.

Ok, gonna try it later on the day, final question then.
Is it normal that when i want to restart my PC in Windows, the computers shuts down and goes off, then 5 seconds later it jumps on and restarts?.
Also when i made an adjustment in the BIOS, and i press f10 it also shuts down completely, and goes on by itself.

Motherboard cold boots when you restart - Seems to be a standard feature in the motherboard although it doesn't seem to do it at stock.

As far as I'm aware its an inbuilt feature, to get around some issue with bootstrapping the Northbridge when operating with overclocked FSB/settings for the NB, but don't quote me on it.
