No, I mean in real life?
Have you seen a g36 other that a g36c with an ironsight and not a scope like in Bf2?

There are many G36 variants, some do have scopes.
I believe it's a G3 on top, and a G36 on the bottom.

I believe all standard G36's have the built in optic. So it looks as though the G36c is the only one that uses true iron sights.

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_&_Koch_G36
The Bundeswehr version has a unique dual sighting system with two optics on top of each other. The lower optical sight is a standard 3.0x magnification. The upper sight is a red-dot reflex sight with 1x magnification, to be used with both eyes open. The red dot sight relies on ambient light at day and battery power in zero light environment, since tritium, which is often used to illuminate weapon sights, is restricted in Germany (Third-party tritium sights are available.) The sighting "bridge" also functions as a carrying handle. There are rudimentary open sights molded on top of the handle, but these can only be used with the red dot sight absent, as in the G36E model. In contrast, the G36C, a compact version designed primarily for use in entry situations, comes with standard open sights similar to those used on the Heckler & Koch UMP45 SMG.

G36, G36E, G36K, and MG36 all have red-dot sights in real life.

The standard G36 has a 3.5x scope and a 1.5x scope. The G36e (export version) only has the 1.5x scope.

I'm guessing they should, if the scope bits come off, then there should be some form of iron sights. G36E in BF2 has iron sights, and BF2 does stick to the real steel weapon looks.

You can scopes on top, hence the rail.
This is a air soft gun version, but it's almost like the real gun:

Unfortunately, it doesn't. The BF2 G36 family are pretty much G36Cs with longer barrels, C-Mags (MG36), bipods (MG36), and different trigger groups.
