I have been told, that 4 gig ram will actually slow down my computer? as the computer will not know where to the data
not true, just make sure you have xp pro
Also, please tell me, is the Quad core worth it?

meh sod quad core...its not worth it untill apps and games use it, and they dont even use dual core yet!!
What about the INTEL® Core 2 Duo E6700 (2 X 2.66GHz) 1066MHz FSB/4MB L2 Cache
Do you overclock?
being honest, the extra money isnt worth it, the 6600 would overclock a LOT more than that, plus its better price/performance
if you reaaaaaaally wanna spend the money to get top grade...get the X6800

I dont overclock,
Might be getting someone to build it for me,maybe

Then if you got the money go for X6800 or if you wanna save some cash, 6700 since youre not overclocking
yeah, no point getting SLI 8800GTX?
get the mobo but i would just get one at the moment (it will run everything thats out right now on max with no problems..) then in future you can stick another in it if you want
Mobo - ASUS® STRIKER EXTREME: Quad Core/Quad SLI, SATA RAID, 2 PCI

tbh i would get 8800 sli'd and an extreme edition core 2 duo then overclock that to like 3.5 + ghz, that would be sweet
Nope, not now atleast, one 8800GTX will do you fine for a year (infact an 8800GTS would to) and then in a 12 months time when it begins to strugle, throw another one in, by then it will be MUCH cheaper, and make more sense. Quad core........... Well, tbh the E6800 (dual) is the gaming chip at the moment, though the Qx6700 will make more sense as more games make more of it. If you want to go a lil cheaper, try the Qx6600, just been released and just like the E6600 vs E6700, I think the Qx6600 is the better price/performer than the Qx6700. Still like £550 though sooooo it's up to you really, might as well buy an E6300 now, and upgrade it in a year to a quad core. By then lots more quads will be available and for less. Dodgey time really to buy new computers, what with the new OS out in like a week or so isnt it? You really want.White-Fusion wrote:

Mobo: N650i/N680I
RAM: 2-4 GB 800mhz (whatever brand) (you will need 4GB for Vista)
GPU: Nvidia 8 series/ATI R600 (btw, the prices of Dx10 cards will have went down a lot by march)
CPU: E6600 Dual core (I've got it, and its lightning quick even at stock)
HD: 150GB raptor + whatever extra you will need, e.g 320GB (put OS/games and shit on the raptor)
Then that case you like so much, nice soud card, blah blah, and all for £1000-£1200+ your case and sound card, so add maybe £150 to that.
That would kick ass for a long time,
Martyn
Bell i will do that:

Agreed, even the low end of the C2D (less than £100) chips, beat the very best of AMD (£3-400) atm. Although there are plans for AMD's new AM3, to run of the older AM2 motherboards, so perhaps you could make a good saving there, as AM3 is there only real chance to make up some ground, but the safer, smarter bet for now, and probably then would be to go Intel.Bertster7 wrote:
