I got mine the second day I had the game. I was playing with some buddies who were already proficient at the game. As we were on vent playing, I got it and shouted over vent, "Hey I got the Purple Heart!". Then my BF2 mentor so candidly shouted back, "That's cause you SUCK!".

I actually got teh purple heart on purpose before i realized what it was about *punching self in the face*
I remember getting it when I first got the game. I didn't really know what it meant, and when I looked it up in the 'awards' section in BFHQ. When I read that it was for "people who were killed during action with a foreign armed force" I kinda guess that to get it, you had to have a pretty bad game.

Like many people said, it just shows you may have had a bad round or were artied a lot.
It was actually the first medal awarded to me, when I first started (Aug 21, '05). Many get it as they learn to play.
It is really up to you, if you want it.
I don't suggest it.

the first time i ever played battlefield, i played a round on a friend's computer on his account and got his purple heart. this was back in 1.12 when blackhawks were flying tanks. i spawned and a blackhawk was right above me, and i have no idea how it happened (must've been beginner's luck) but i just sprayed it with an m16 over and over and bodies just rained out of it. i got the 5 kills that way, then just got destroyed the rest of the round. my friend was really amused by it since i emptied that blackhawk in my first ten seconds of playing the game...

Anyways, if you get the purple heart its no biggie, it's a bunch of pixels once you think about it, however it looks rather nice with your collection, I've seen some guys 'bail' from the game because they're one death/kill short to get the purple heart , I got mine when I had about 350 hours of play, and I got it the day I first played Armored Fury and got raped by a warthog , and to tell you the truth it was my fault, I was one KILL short of getting the purple heart, because the time I killed a tank with a TOW I got the Purple heart :Vilham wrote:
