I've always wanted to try that, but I could never get it going straight up, even with a joystick

The best way Ive found to go straight up is to use the radar. Right as you pass vertical the plain icon with flip direction.  I just point it up as best I can then gently move the nose back and forth to make sure Im right in between the jet icon facing one way and the other.

So how did you do that just face up and use the burner? Normally my jets flips back round.

That was your mistake, dont use the burner- drops you out every time.

LOL that was a mistake actually, I usually only use 1600x1200 stretched when I fly because I dont like the way BF2 cuts a strip off the top and bottom of the full 1920x1200 (as you can see on the screenshots) making it way thinner than it should be.

It does look lush in 1920x1200 tho, great for foot pounding and helos.


Oh and as for parachuting, no way man - it would take over an hour to parachute back since the climb was over a thousand MPH (?) and that took over 10 minutes.  I dont know how fast the parachute is but its way way slower- even freefalling would take a long time.

actually, if its not in the game files, a good estimate could be had by timing how long it takes for 500ft, and 1000ft, checking they match then dividing the result into 250,000....is that what you are doing?
