i need a new phone and a friends of mine is heading over to the US for the bg lanch of the new apple gem.

now i know the network is cinular, but will that work in the UK? and if not, i take that an O2 sim etc etc will probable work but not let me get most of the features? correct me if im wrong please

yea dollers. AKA 250 quid over here. thats cheap for a phone and ipod together......... and also it not here until december 07, so i dont wanna wait 12 months when i can wait less than 5.....

No, it won't work. There's a reason it's a delayed launch, a reason it's only on Cingular, and it's not cause Apple hates everybody that doesn't use Cingular.

It can be imported and able to work in the UK very soon. Certainly, there are a few in the UK atm.

The only ones that would possibly be in the UK would be for testing, or sent by Apple to its "valued customers." The phone isn't even out in the US yet.

Yeah but it won't be exactly like that. It wont be the exact exchange i.e $500 to £256.41

It would be more like 3/400 quid. We get insanely high prices here.

when a phone is locked to a cell-phone company (in this case, cingular), it cannot be used with any other company. That is the whole point of it.

Two very desirable phones, and combined with a 8Gb iPod Nano (comparable to the $599 8Gb iPhone) are cheaper than the iPhone.
So, throw that argument away.

Also, saying this is an iPod + phone is ridiculous anyway! It has no styling of the iPod & doesn't even function like an iPod (runs on Linux), as the iPhone runs on OSX.

The only argument could be you are a true 'Apple Fanboy', and have so much Apple Connectivity that phone 'does it' for you!

I'm sorry, but you probably already have an mp3/4 player, and these remain the best choice coupled with a good phone.

I'm sorry I haven't done my best analysis, but this is the best I could do with a broken wrist(!).

Iphone is nice and has more features then a phone and an ipod combined. Also, it doesn't require you to carry around a phone and an ipod because its already in the phone.
