Well from what I see you are having an issue with the amount of colors you are showing.  Try this:

Right click on your Desktop and click Properties
Click the Settings tab
On the right side you have a section labeled Color Quality.  This will have a bar with a lot of colors in it, above that you have a list of options, choose Highest (32-bit).

See if that solves your issue.

I think, there's the difference.
No. They don't make a difference.  The one's that come with Windows vary between .jpg and .bmp.  Regardless the picture in the background is .jpg

Icon Text not Transparent on Desktop

When the text under the icons on your desktop are not transparent, there are two things to check. First open System from the Control Panel, select the Advanced tab, and press the Settings button under the Performance header. Make sure that on the Visual Effects tab, the option Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop is selected. Also make sure that Smooth edges of screen fonts is checked, it is also needed.

If this still doesn't do the trick, right-click the desktop, point to Arrange Icons By and make sure that Lock Web Items on Desktop is un-checked.

They were like that to begin with.

NOTE:  Display Properties/Desktop then the color box.  It used to be blue but I accidentally clicked on it one time it tescrewed up everything.

Could it be that some software tweaking tool removed this feature from your os so that you get a "performance boost"? *sighs*
