I have a 6600GT AGP 256(or 128 cant remember sorry) video card. Over the summer I took my computer apart, put it back together, it worked fine, except my 6600GT, so I put my 5200 back in and that works fine, I wanna use my 6600GT again but Im not sure why it doesnt work....its in now and I get lag just surfing the internet. Very weird...anyways help is good...I think I might have fried the card...

Did you hook the power connector up to the card?

Yeah. Everything is connected and plugged in, but the card is invisible to the computer, if the computer would atleast recognize the card I wouldnt have a problem.

Reset CMOS if he was using onboard video monitor wouldn't be plugged into the card. Thats the way I got it working on my Nforce 550 with no onboard when the PC didn't recognice gfx. Monitor would get some input then fade back to no signal. After half an hour of frustration I reset CMOS and have been happy ever since. Backup your HDD for whatever reason if you are cautious it should only affect your mobo and check BIOS on first startup to see if everything is fine.

If its the lag I think it is, its because you are using a default VGA driver.

get the latest driver

Alright, right now I put my 5200 back in so I could surf the net, it notices that easily. I know next to nothing about BIOS, really could use some help with all that stuff...

Try this:
Go to My Computer>view system info (on the left hand side)>device manager>display adapters> click on your card and look at the top, see those icons? Look at those two further to the right and tell us what they say.

(with your 6600GT plugged in, of course)

Easy way to reset you CMOS is to remove the watch battery on your mobo for a few minutes.

Also, get a driver cleaner
remove your 5000 series drivers threw add/remove
use the driver cleaner
Shut comp off
remove watch battery and install your 6600gt.
reinstall battery after a few minutes
install new drivers.
WA-LA, new card.

My 6600GT is not listed, I have tried that before.

In Device Manager, right click and then select Scan For Hardware Changes. Or try uninstalling the video drivers, reboot and reinstall them.

were you working in a carpeted area? did you static-ize yourself? static build up / mishandling components could have caused it.

By the way, BF2 will love you more if you spring for a newer card.
