Graphics + Framerates.

Just wondering about what framerates, and AA and AF i would get with high settings (light and shadows on medium) Using a res of 1280x1024

Specs:

Intel E6300 C2D

2gb g.skill ram @ 800mhz with timings of 4-4-4-12

Gigabyte 7600gt 265mb

Gigabyte P965-DS3 Mobo

Why dont you just run the game on those settings and see, unless its a system you intend to build. If thats the case, then I dont know.

asus P5B deluxe
saphire radeon 1950 xtx
2 gigs of ram, dont remember the Hz

this ati card is a brazillion times better than a 7600.

back to business: i would say you will be somewhere around 30-40 fps with the rig you posted on most high

AA and AF abliterate frame rates, this is the justification for the really expensive cards ont he market, you can argue my 7600 runs as high as your 7950, but his 7950 can handle the AA and AF. To be honest, the improvements are not as much as say, going from low to medium, medium to high in graphics setting. I've seen full AA and AF on 2142 and it does look awsome, but on a sub $200 card, I say leave them off to retain your smooth steady play. Otherwise you will have all be it good looking pictures to watch, saw a 7600GT with 4x AA managing about 30FPS on a good day.

The site im buying parts off doesnt have any 7900gt's but they have a 7900gs for $100 aus$ more then the 7600gt what kind of differnce am i looking at between the two?

8 pixel pipes more and doubled bus interface, but slower core clock and mem clock on the 7900GS. And 40-50% better performance.
Sad, however, you didn't wait for the 8600 Ultra to be released...

I have a 7600GT and I can play Bf2 all maxed out no problem.
Atm I'm running on:
3500+ AMD 939 CPU
2gb pc3200
XFX 7600GT XT
K8N Neo4-F mobo
2 TFT monitors at 1280x1024 75Hz

All Bf2 settings on high with 4xAA and AF left at default and I rarely go below 40FPS (8XAF is playable but 16x kills it - like 20-45 FPS) and thats running at 1280x1024 75Hz.

2142 is another story, I found 2142 really laggy and sometimes unplayable in the titans so I gave up playing 2142. I think it might be the shite CPU though as changing the graphics settings had little effect on the FPS.

A 7600GT can run Bf2 maxed out with very few problems(arty and loads of smoke) but will struggle with newer games like 2142, Vegas etc.

there is a major diff between the 2. do not go with the gs version. they dont tend to play well

Well...I have a K9N Mobo..7600 GT..1 gig pc6400 and 3800+ at 2.6 ghz..how come I can't play it all out on high..is it because of my 1 gig...?

They do better than 7600GTs after all...
And 4 pixel pipes for about 80€ more (dunno what this'd be in aus$) is worse than 8 more for 100aus$ for sure.
Especially since overclocked versions of the 7900GS (Gainward BLISS, for example) are higher than stock 7900GT speeds.

PS: 7900 is the 'biggest bang for buck' in the gaming-friendly category of GFX cards...
