tell her to use google for porn lol

but seriously spybot + avg free + zonealarm = full protection for free

(8gig? zomg)

EDIT: if you use IE i found your options.

Internet options -> content -> content adivsor, click enable -> aproved sites -> make AOL a disallowed site -> go to general in the options in content advisor -> set a password

should do the trick just fine

You can get software to do this or you can set up a proxy server, smoothwall or IPCop etc, or for something really quick and easy you can add an entry into your hosts file.

Open in notepad

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

and add this entry

127.0.0.1 www.google.com

Save it and then try to go to google with any of your browsers.

replace www.google.com with any website you need to block, (note this will only work on the local machine that she's using mate)

Need help, contact me VIA message.

^ thats what you need to do

If you use spybot, you have to explicitly add the host files entries under tools, its not automatic. The entry you want to block may or may not be in their list.

There is another free software that you can try, but is not fool proof.  The program is called No Ads.  It is suppose to be a pop up blocker, but how it works, is if anything that has words that match it's list in the title bar it kills the window.

For example:

In NoAds you have Google in the list.  When someone browses to Google.com, it closes the window.

You can get it here.

If they close the application, then it will stop blocking the site, unlike other programs.  This also is not a very bulky program, you will not notice a difference in your computer at all.

Which Browser are you using

IE
Internet options -> content -> content adivsor, click enable -> aproved sites -> make AOL a disallowed site -> go to general in the options in content advisor -> set a password

Or you could use a host file

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file

- You can download a Hosts file
(http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm) and use it "as is" or edit it.
- You can create your own Hosts file by editing the sample Windows
provides (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.sam)

http://piro.sakura.ne.jp/xul/_policyman … n#download

1. Download and install the Policy Manager extension using the link above .
2. Use the resulting Policy Manager entry on the Firefox Tools menu to create a new policy called 'Restricted Sites'.
3. Select the negative option for each setting in the new policy, ie. Disable Javascript, Block cookies, Don't load images, Block popups, and Block software installation.
4. Use the 'Add new site to this list' button to add the site to the Restricted Sites policy.

1) When making a title asking for help, describe the problem. Not that you're giving karma for free. Attracts all the wrong kinds of idiots.

2) 8.26 GB? Bullshit. Considering most malware is a few KB of code at most, you've got something else as well. Stop downloading porn.

3) McAfee Total Protection, nah.

Fenix14s program list will help you the most, using a hosts file rarely works unless you know for sure its one website and you know what that website is, and if your 8gig of malware story is true, its probobly more then that.
