Nothing in the BF series will run...help please

Monday night I was playing 2142 with no problems. Tuesday night I double click the shortcut to fire up 2142 and nothing happens. Odd, I think and try again...nothing. I try starting off the CD - no go. I go to the exe on the hard drive; nada.

I uninstall and reinstall - zilch. I try BF2 for grins and giggles - nothing. I try another game and it starts up with no problem. I try Special Forces - nothing....hmm.

Uninstalled the whole Battle Field series. Wiped every profile and directory. Updated video drivers and windows. Reinstalled 2142 and tried it again - nothing damn it! Patched and tried again...f'ing POS!

I'm at a loss. I searched and found nothing like this. The damn thing doesn't even look for a CD/DVD in the drive. I've got a query in with support but thought someone here might be able to help.

I'd rather not uninstall the OS and restart but that may be neccessary. Any help would be great...flamers need not apply!

It could be a faulty DVD drive. Nvm, because your other games work.

Maybe its just someone at EA having a laugh t you. Have you tried setting your computer back to the last time it worked. Go to Acessories/ System Tools and click on system restore. Set yourself back to date of your choice and all is good.

Also you seem like a bloody stats padder to me how the fuck did you get a kill streak of 308.

Oh wait you are a stats padder your favourite victim has died 111 times. Great. Havent got stats wiped yet?

Edit you got him 199 times the 2nd highest is 111

Not sure what stats you are looking at but mine are far from padder material.

As for the restore, I have an external USB drive connected and none of the restore points work because I never disabled monitoring on it. Since the drivers for the drive don't become active until after Windows loads, part of the restore can't happen, fails and resets back to my original setup. Sucks.

What are you talking about? sgt_mango333 is my BF2 id as well as on the forum...what stats are you looking at?

Regardless, that would have no bearing on the game failing to start.

Do you have System Mechanic installed on your computer?

Just a week ago I couldn't get BF2 or SF to start & it worked perfect as soon as I uninstalled System Mechanic 7, then I reinstalled System Mechanic & it happened again so that program has an issue with BF2 & probably 2142 if you installed it from disc.

uninstall - go through registery and delete any values relating to bf.. go to my documents and delete the bf2 folder, delete anything under c:\documents and settings\profilename\application data\battlefield 2 ... reinstall, patch and cross ure fingers
