Hey all, I need  a little help with learning about my joystick (don't let your mind wander with this one?!!) and flying a helicopter. I learned how to fly with a keyboard and mouse and do fairly well. I wanted to learn how fly a jet so I bought a joystick. Can you give me a little advice how to get comfortable with learning how to get started on flying a helo with my joystick (Logitech 3d pro)?

Much appreciated!!

You have to be a lot smoorther with the movements of the joystick when flying the helo.  I've never gotten the hang of flying the helo with my joystick.  However, I have set the throttle on my to allow me to hover the helo easier when flying them.

Most people I know use keyboard and mouse when flying a heli.

Straight keyboard heli ftw. I've used the joystick, and it is decent, but for chopper you need many more fine adjustments that you just can't do as well with the joystick. Stunt flying joystick ftw. Flying a game/dogfighting keyboard ftw.

What I have wanted to try is throttle on keyboard, and movement on joystick, I think that might ease the transition.

The best advice I can give you is get on an empty server and keep doing and coming out of flips until your head is spinning, and working on your aim with rockets.

Joystick FTW! Glad to see another pilot has seen the light.

To get good with it, just fly a lot and practice. Go play single player and rape the bots for a while, eventually you'll get good. Start your own server and play Kubra and practice flying through all the holes in the dam, it will help you learn finer adjustments and movement.

Most people I fly up against can't out-maneuver me because they have a mouse/keyboard, and I have a joystick.

I also have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro...not bad at first, but it starts to wear out after a while so be easy on it.
