Assuming that you are using BF2s.com to pull his stats, if you click on the award, ribbon, or medal...it shows you the requirements for obtainment along with where you stand in relation to those requirements.

For the SAS ribbon, apparently the only thing you need is 5 hours of total playtime using SAS.

i think its been well covered in other threads that 5 hours is not correct, or at least by no means the only requirement, and that at the moment no-one knows the actual requirements, so it's pointless asking.

5 hours is wrong. The requierment is somthing like this: Play and win each level and play for 30 hours with that army, Iv read it on another thread here.

Until he got promoted to 2nd lieutenant, he was the Sergeant Major of the Corps.  That guy is a fucking monster at this game.  He has the Spetsnaz ribbon too.

the service ribbons arent that hard to get.  i got the SAS one at like 58 hours played on SAS, with about 96 hours played on all the SAS maps combined.  the other two i got today at significantly lower numbers... im not sure what the requirements are anymore... or if they got changed since i havent played in like a week before today.

I beleive that the new ribbons are just like the ME service ribbon, which was win on all MEC maps and get 20 hours or something.

i think the procedure is actaully this: Geoffrey, the work experience kid at EA, gets to pull a PID out of a hat each day, and then an army name out of another hat, and the randomly plucked ribbon goes to that randomly plucked person. Then Geoffrey makes the coffee and takes it to 'coke snorting from hooker bosom room', where the EA staff spend most of their day, hard at work.

haha seriously, up till recently i was sure it was 96 hours played in that armies maps and 5 hours in that army.  my sas/spetznas and all the profiles i had seen right after they got the ribbon indicated that.

since then i got the seals ribbon at way less stats, and seen people with way less stats having gotten other ribbons... im not even sure anymore.

96 hours is way too much.  It was nowhere near that much for the regular ones.
