Right, after checking the forums and not finding a single entry that helped me more than the EA official line, I'm officially stumped, and bored of waiting for EA to give me a reply to my problem. The game is giving me a CD-key error, but with a twist. I did everything that EA said to do, nothing happened. I can still load the game, but I cannot play single player either. It cuts when its 'Verifying client data'. I even uninstalled the game, and redownloaded it off EA link. Anyone have any better suggestions? Help is, as always, appreciated

sounds to me that you are leaving some sort of registery behind in your pc get this __ Ccleaner @ www.filehippo.com it will clean you hard drive of all unwanted crap, its free and no vires or ware in it, i swaer by it. un-install, and use the registry cleaner, then install in safe mode with networking, PRESS F8 to acces that when re-starting,,,,good luck

Oh well, dont reply then Anyway, I tried all that you said, but it still doesn't work I had a good long think, and realised that it stopped working when I played 2142 at my mates house using my account. I made sure he wasn't trying to use my account, but it still didn't work. Even single player maps won't load. Anyone, help? I cannot keep playing Ceasar IV anymore, I need the Zeller back in my virtual hands!

I had this problem for about a month and nothing EA told me worked. Then someone told me to check if my BF2142Launcher.exe properties if it was running in compatibility mode.  It was so I turned comp mode off right after a fresh reinstall and I've had no problems with the cd key since.  Hope this helps.

Have you tried a manual uninstall ?

Using the auto uninstall usually doesn`t do the job 100%

2142 has shitty handling of accounts. It is possible that the server expects your account to be on your friend's CD key. Perhaps you should try a new account? (Maybe re-installing?)

But that could cause more problems... and will make ya' lose your stats/unlocks/name...

Nah, cos it worked right before I logged on to his account. I'm considering buying it for disc, a pain in the arse, but should hopefully work

I wouldnt be playing 2142 on his PC if he didnt have the game now, would I? lol, but I checked, and it's definately not that. I tried a reinstall, but it kept coming up with an MD5 error for different files, would this be the problem?

Sorry, can't help you, but I strongly recommend you don't Download ANYTHING from EA that you don't have to.  Word of advice to anyone, really.
