I'd recommend getting a newer, faster processor...and upgrading to at least 2GB of ram.

But...there's a difference between "upgrade fast" and "it will last through 2007".

It'll be fine for a few more months, but I doubt you'd be able to play games like Crysis and Alan Wake when they come out.

Humm mine is

AMD 3500
1 GB RAM
6600GT 128mb PCI-e
NForce 4 mobo
80gb HD

And i (rightly or wrongly) think of it as a mid range system- i am soon getting 2gb RAM

Since yours is nearly the same as mine, i voted low end- will last 2007. mainly because of the CPU, and the RAM

Low end (upgrade fast)!
Please! That graphics card is wasted on that processor & the amount of RAM is pitiful (valueRAM makes it even worse)! Why, oh why, oh why!
If you can, try and get £3500 and get Core 2 Extreme (QX6700), 2-4Gb RAM (good brand - Corsair etc.) and a Dx10 graphics card. I'll probably find myself waiting to the end of this year, if not beyond. I have to find this money from somewhere, coming from only a decent background & still being a student.

£3500? Are you nuts?

More like £2000 for a system like that with a good sized (22") monitor. For £3500 you could get something like an 8 core Xeon system with about 8GB of RAM.

To the OP: You need to upgrade, but I'd wait for the mid range DX10 cards and wait for 45nm Intel chips to be released so earlier c2d cpus get cheap.

As said before in this thread, it might last a few months before it won't any more new games..I suggest that you save up some money and buy a new rig which will be PCI-E, much cheaper then upgrading AGP, because it much more expensive..

Isnt that Dell XPS H2C £3500?  Bah, £2000 is about as much as you will need, anything beyond that is academic (if its self built that is).

I'd say toss that machine, if your a gamer you must be going mad a ludacris frame rates and slow ass load up's, ground up new rig me thinks.  How old is it?
