I hated that the hind in sf is also for russians, I think they should of atleast chose the mi-28 for russians or added the KA-50 Shark.

What do you guys think?

Indeed, your answer is correct 'Err'. And your prize is a trip to Google!

But why put in that old relic of the past? There is also a mk2.

But back on topic. Putting in a KA-50 would be a good thing for the Russian Spetz as a force.
On the down side, the KA-50 has no controlable, as in turnable, gun (2 guns pods under each 'wing').
And to me it would be a challenge, but 90% of the BF2:SF players would start bitch'n over this if they had to fire the guns like the current missiles .

The KA-50 mk2. DOES have a turnable gun, but it is on one side only (right-side, underneath the 'wing').

It would be cool to hear the rumble of those two rotor blades coming closer .

And while we are at it, put in a Sikorsky SH3-Seaking instead of those blackhawks, on missions where there is a carrier involved. A UH-Tiger for the SAS forces (UH-Tiger is an european attack helicopter).
Let the MECSF keep their Mi-28 Havoc, but give the Insurgents and Rebels something else. Asfar as I can recall Afghanistan Rebels had nothing but RPG's to fight of the Russian Mi-24 Hind's.

there are a few problems with outdated equipment (just look at the chinese being armed with ak's for example) - the hinds are cool tho! the only problem is that they didn't give them their troop carrying capacity, and made their cannon weaker than the bloody hand guns

My biggest gripe is that they use US helos for SAS.  It is conceivable that the insurgents, etc. would have Russian equipment, but the English have their own helicopters.  If they thought it would be too difficult to add two new helos for the Brits, then they shouldn't have made SAS maps with Helos.

Yes it is odd the chinese armed with AK's. You would have thought that the MEC would have AK47's & the chinese AK-101's if anything. Its not so odd that The English side gets Apache's since the British did buy some from the Americans I heard. But it is odd that the SAS would be using them :s Then again its odd that medics & assault etc can fly planes, choppers, drive tanks APC's etc... Wow they must have ace basic training in 2007

true, i loathe the way it handles, but it goes up much faster than the other choppers, thanks to it's more powerful engines - which is a distinct advantge in chopper vs. choppers situations, because they are usually settled by a TV hit

Their engines are far more powerfull so their climbing speed is much higher, they weigh much more so they go down much faster, and last but not least, because of their weight and bigness they are ideal for sideways flying.

I have made numerous kills that way with the MI-24, but the same tactic with and AH-64 or AH-1Z results in an uncontrolable flight.

I love my big MI-24. Though it's big, fat and even ugly and not as streamlined as it's counterparts it packs a far more deadly punch than the Apache or Cobra combined (in real life that is).

Putting in a trooptransport function would be an option, since that is the original purpose of this behemoth.
A heavily armed troop transport.

I don't have a problem with the Rebals, Insurgents, and MEC with having hind, after all, they do have outdated equipment, but the mi-28 replaced the mi-24 hind for the Russians.

the ka-50 mk 2 was a joint venture between russia and israel. it never left the drawing board. those pictures you found are wooden mockups.

what i really would like to see in bf2:sf is the russian ka-56. it is perfect for night missions by the russian special forces.

Now that's funny. They could put straws on the sides to shoot spitballs as well, or rubberband guns.

Don't worry about mock-ups and the like. This is the near future, after all. And consider the Mk3A1 Jackhammer- it too never really left the drawing board, but we get to use it in the game

that is whats funny about the logic used by the game developer. they give us first generation nightvision goggles and then decide to include weapons still in development.
