  • New computer - BF2 crashing when I try to start it :/.

G'day,

Today I got a new computer, specs:

Intel C2D e6400
ASUS 8800GTS
320GB Seagate HDD
2gig DDR2 667mhz RAM

When I try to open BF2, it comes up with that starting picture than immediately crashes. I opened it once, but then closed it to change my CD key, and it wouldn't open again.
Ive reinstalled, 2 times, still nothing.

When it crashes, I ctrl alt delete and check the processes and it says BF2 is still running.
What could be the problem?

I had this problem with BF2142. Try setting the BF2.exe in compatibility mode for Windows 2000.

Where can I get the latest 8800gts drivers, and what others would I need?

Found the problem, there seemed to have been a corrupt file or something in my My Documents/Battlefield 2/Profiles folder, so I just deleted that and all is sweet . Retrieved the 3 accounts I play and its working fine,.

What frames do you get in BF2, and what Motherboard..

I've got pretty much the same setup but with 800MHz ram, and a 7900..

Just wondering how much difference a 8800 would make.

If you upgraded did you uninstall the old display drivers before you installed the new vid card drivers?

If not you need to uninstall all display drivers then reinstall the one for the new card

**If it’s a new computer you built yourself, check the website for the brand name of your   vid card for updated drivers and the motherboard maker for updated BIOS. ***

You have 5 stars on the left side & only 4 stars on the right side.....that bothers me. Fix it please.

@ Silver: Nice setup, what kind of mobo did you get?
