Like in the $4,500 region, though in the UK we pay more for our hardware usually than you guys do, but even so I would be suprised to see e.g newegg sell something like that for anything less than $3,500.....

Tell me what you think
Pretty good.

Get a normal X-fi not the Fatality one, it's not worth the extra money at all, makes no difference.

A RAID setup is much faster than a single Raptor. Intead of the 150GB Raptor you could get 2 400GB drives and expect much improved performance. Raptors in RAID are even faster, but then that's even more expense. A huge heatsink and fan is always a good addition too.

I don't like the new case you've put in. The last one (stacker 830) is a great case as is the Antec P180 that I and some others have suggested.

The G15 isn't worth the money either. It's a regular cheap logitech keyboard with an LCD screen and a few extra buttons - same technology as you find in their £5-10 ones. Get a cheap keyboard. Mice are another story altogether.

£2000 = about $3900

Stuff is cheaper in the US (no VAT either) though so it would be around the $3000 mark.

Actually I was comparing the rig speced about two posts above me at £2200 I believe, at exchange rate today £2200 is $4330.  Infact my mistake it was closer to £2,500, therefor even more.

No worries! Question though, these 8 core xeons I think there called, can they be put into a C2D based mobo?  If so, are they a lot more expensive than say, a Qx6700?

There are no 8 core Xeons.

The best Xeon CPU is a quad core clovertown. They use socket 771 as opposed to 775 for c2d. You can get dual socket 771 boards and whack two in for eight cores.

They cost about $2000 a piece. So yes, they are mucho expensive.
