OK, I need some help on a RAID driver for my set-up. I have two 150 GB Western Digital Raptors and an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium motherboard. I am trying to put the two raptors in RAID 0 and then put an OS on them. I know it probably sounds stupid, because if one drive fails my OS is toast, but I would like faster boot-up times and access speeds. I have a floppy drive so all I need is a recommendation for a good RAID 0 driver. Karma for helpful answers!

Doesn't your motherboard CD have one?
If you have 2 identical drives installed all you have to do is go into BIOS & enable RAID or Striping or whatever after you install the drivers.
If you don't have the CD still I'll go searching for ya, just lemme know.

You should use the RAID driver that are on the CD if there are any. You might have to put them on the floppy. If not, the you should go to Asus website and download the Raid drivers for your motherboard. After that, you will have the set up a stripe array using F10 and select the drives you want in the stripe array. Make sure you enable your RAID support on your Motherboard. After that boot up with the Windows CD and then press F6 to install the RAID drivers with your floppy disk. Then you format your drives and then install windows. Then you can check in you Device Manager under Disk drives and make sure it says Stripe and you only have one Drive showing. Easy

Got to search though a closet full of computer junk. Let me see if I can find it...
Don't you have to install it on a floppy if you're going to install the OS after?

Good, I found it. Do y'all know what the difference is between a "Nvidia SATA RAID Driver" and a "Silicon Image SATA/RAID Driver"?

There just two different Drivers you can use. I would go with the Nvidia Drivers since I'm pretty sure thats what your chipset on you MB is; nvidia.

I just installed the Silicon ones with mine & it works fine, I don't really think there's a difference. Just remember to "Enable" RAID in the BIOS after you install windows. I don't think you need a floppy disc for anything, I've never used one when reinstalling an OS. Just make sure your disc drive is boot priority #1 or even #2.

Yes.

The Nvidia one is SATA2 and has black ports.

The Sil 3114 one is SATA and has red ports.

ALL RIGHT! Windows is up and running on RAID 0! And it only took 7 minutes to install XP! Everything seems to be fine and I will continue to install drivers/software. THANKS for all the help!
