Mine was recently ( ), on a 24/7 Wake 2007 server. I joined midgame, and we were getting our asses handed to us via air whores. Seriously, you couldnt go anywhere, and the damn cowards had stolen our own planes!!!!!
Anywho, it was 10 min into the round and i had done the insurmountable task of amassing 0 kills and 20 deaths!!!. I KID YOU NOT - as SOON as i spawned, i was either bombed, ary'ed, or machine gunned by a j-10.. thats the gods honest....the only 4 kills i managed were from being AT and wacking a tank that was sitting right in front of me...i did it twice (2 diff tanks), and sure enough, drumrolll.................................you've been awarded expert noob . i left that server and man was i pissed off!!!
I never recieved one, partly cos I was too bad as a noob, now I just snipe or when i get bored run n gun. I have come mighty close, in fact today, wgen playing wake, which I hate with a passion. I dunno why, that map just disagrees with me. Anyway I got completely owned as usmc because the PLA had every base but one and were destroying us with jets I had a run that went something like:

Playing a round on Wake as USMC with only about 12 people on the server and two good J-10 pilots. When there are that few players on a Wake server, it's basically a J-10 shooting gallery.
I tried for mine. I think I got it again though going for some knife badge.
I got it from A-10 whores the 1st few days I was playing Armored Fury, I had lots of deaths, and as soon as I destroyed a tank with the T.O.W. I heard the drums and lo & behold I had a purple heart . I knew if I killed that tank I'd get the Purple heart but I really don't care about it, it's just an award showing you had a really bad round - It definitely doesn't mean you suck at all.

In response to the OP, you shouldn't've respawned and just sit there and wait for things to clear... And the story for my one and only purple heart, I had just gotten the game and sucked majorly. I had only half a gig of ram and even on low settings things were lagging like crazy. Plus I wasn't even putting all my concentration into the game since I was at a friend's house and we were all lanning, which meant goofing around and not really trying... So that's my purple heart
I got 5-1 stats, then jumped in front of enemy 18 times. Accidentally killed someone again, and had to get 5 more deaths to get it.I thought: damn easy medal to get, I only realized later it sucked to have it But I'm glad I had to try hard die that much.
Even in my shitty days I have kd ratios >1.. How people manage 0.25 I really dunno.. So I think to get it you really have to work on it... it doesn't come to you because you suck.. that wouldn't be really enough

Ok, i got my first Purple Heart on purpose. I saw the requirements for all the other medals and was like "fuck that" thats impossible. Then i came across the PH and i decided "i can do that!" So i got 4 kills and then frove a jeep into the water 20 times then killed someone else. That's when i first got the game
Fast forward a few months later, and you'd find me playing karkand and having the worst game of my life. I dont remember much cause it was a long time ago, but i rememebr shooting someone then hearing the award music. I got all excited because i thought i got something good, but alas, the PH stared me in the face. I left that server and damn near snapped BF2 in half

got mine medic whoring, i may have gotten the purple heart, but i got the gold star as well, oh well
I tried (and failed) to get a purple heart - it screwed up my K/D ratio (<1) and delayed me in ranking up. The fact that I couldn't even get myself killed a lot probably shows me something, but I don't know what.
i remember how i had my purple heart....... i just let the other team kill me 20 times and i made 5 kills... actually i wanted to have it .... i was a noob and dindt knew it was a shitty award to have !!!! loool mbay i would never have it if it wasent that
My friend got one for me while playing my account when he was watching my animals while I was out of town... did it on purpose too he did....
I was just learning how to fly jets and i had one of my buddies teaching me(he is really good) and we were dog fighting on a server with like 6 people on and just getting my ass handed to me. So i start bombing the hell outa this tank and because i sucked kept missing having to reload and repeat. Finally hit the tank got 2 kills and didnt notice i had a score of like 3-20 and its like congratulation. I just about threw the mouse at the wall i was so mad.

I was on Karkand, with no IO, and no idea how to play the game. I didn't realise the importance of going prone when you are shooting someone at a distance of more then 10 feet. The standard button it's binded to (z? x?) was just too out of the way for me to be pressed quickly, so I would just stand there, lowering my KDR and accuracy at the same time.

I got mine trying to take down MI-28 on sharqui when us only had tv, i ended up shooting them both out with M95, so i accepted the award and felt that it was worth it just to do that to them.
