Going to be getting a new box with Vista installed on it and was wondering if anyone has installed BF2 on any of the Beta or RC releases of Vista.
keep the old xp installed as a backup....I hear vista is a memory hog....although if you get 2GB+ of RAM, I assume you should be fine
don't get vista until service pack 1, imo.
Thats what i am waiting for tbh-[Silver.Inc* wrote:

I heard too that there were problem with DX9 games on it. FYI, SP1 will be out in July.
That's cos Vista is made for DX10, as DX10 won't be available for XP.masculata wrote:

Apparently there will be a service pack that lets you play DX10 games. so ive been told (although I haven't looked into it, so don't take my word for it!)JaggedPanther wrote:

probably is ladies to play bf2 in vista you have to run it as administrator, otherwise pb kicks you. also for some weird reason special forces will not work. all though this may stem from the whole running it in admin mode. also driver support is still a bit shake right now so if some of you use audio cards or weird peripheral shit you may want to hold. i am gonna go poop now so if you have anymore questions i will be back in a bit.
I've got one.Marlboroman82 wrote:

Have you learnt to use something other than your barehands when going to the washroom?
i had the 64 bit vista and every time i tryed to play bf2 or 2142 punk buster would kick me, so then i tryed the 32 bit and it worked fine with both games, no more punk buster kicks, i like vista's new features and it is definatly faster than xp
no i usually just shit directly on your mothers chest and she does the wiping for me. she loves the old chilly dog.JaggedPanther wrote:

Marlboroman82 wins.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
thanks, but back on topic now. look i doubt ea will release anymore updates for bf2 so don't hold your breath for them to help ease your transition into vista. i would advise holding off on installing it on your gaming rig unless you just absolutely have to have it.Flecco wrote:

It'll be gaming rig #2 for me and I'll keep the XP box around for awhile. And was it a good poop?
finally got bf2 running on vista. and my g15 en g7. what a load of work. i had to give bf2.exe clearance or i got kicked by punkbuster. hope that vista will soon be the standard cause finding drivers is not easy.
but bf2 it does work on vista ultimate 64 bit. COOL

I doubt it. Vista had gamers in mind. however it's coming out with bugs and memory leaks, perhaps just don't be the first in line to get it.
my bf2 has more fps than in xp. and video settings are set higher. maybe because i have 3 gig off ram. i know its better now. only nero gives me a pain in the but. cant uninstall it. i did everything i know. searched the Internet but no help was found. if i do a search on my PC it cant find anything even under the hidden folders. but in uninstall software it is there and cant click it there. very strange.
frames go between 70 to 100 fps.

What's the advantage to upgrading to Vista? New GUI? Less memory? Untill games start requiring Vista, I'm sticking with XP. I don't even like XP, I'd be running Windows98 or DOS if they supported current software.
