I have the same issue.

I have to play bf2 right when my computer starts. If I play any other game after, I have to restart my pc if I want to play bf2 again. Or if I play for an extended period of time I have to restart my pc. I have done just about every you can do to try and fix lag issues ect... except reinstall bf2. only because the last time it took 7 trys to reinstall.

It's BF2, you're better off standing naked in a barrel of eels at full moon saying a prayer to the Nine Divines from Oblivion than to actually attempt to fix your problems.

What do you have your internet connection settings set to? T1/LAN or DSL/Cable?

I had the same issue and it turned out to be bad RAM. That being said, it could also be a firewall issue (software) like Zonelabs etc. You might also try running a defrag of your HD and maybe even a reinstall of BF2.
