Hi , I am hoping someone can help me with my sound problem that has been plaguing me. I play the game with a cheap MadCatz head set that plugs into a USB port in the front of my computer. The issue I'm having is that The Mic works fine but I'm constantly being told in BF2 by squad mates that my voice is really quiet, and hard to hear. I know its not a head set issue because I use it in different games and also in Team speak and the volume there is perfect. In control panel all levels are maxed for teh headset and microphone. The volume control on the unit itself is also cranked. When I go to the Audio options ingame, everything looks good, yet when I do the Mic test, its very quiet. I do not have the option available to click the "Mic gain" box for some reason which I'm unsure of. Ive tried setting the audio to hardware, software, X-FI and all do the same thing. Any ideas? How do I make it so I can add Mic gain?
Do this........
Goto Control Panel and select "Audio & Sound Devices"
When the properties box is up, select the "Voice" tab
Crank it up...................
Let me know if its high or low right now

Turn up the volume in the "Voice Recording" when your there

yeah, all that stuff is cranked... every possible thing that can be tweaked is set to max. For Default device I have 2 options. 1 is teh Nvidea Nforce Audio, and the other is the USB headset. They are all set for the headset option. I really dont see how to make it louder.
i have had two quality logitech mics, and for both i have had all the volume settings cranked, all mic boost options checked, and i still have to practically yell into the mic. rather inconvenient...
but can anyone tell why it is that my mic gain box is "grey'd out"? Meaning I see the box but I dont have the option to select it...
