Just got an old Harddrive up and running,
Could someone tell me how to remove XP without a format, as in, could I just delete the stuff?

I want to keep everything without having to back it up then stick it back on...

is that even possible? if you attached it to another computer you might be able to go in and manually delete everything except what you want to keep, but i think some of that stuff cant be deleted with out reformatting...

Wow, sorry, bad explaination.

I have 2 HDDs, one is the current system and the other is the old one.

The old one used to be the system Drive on my old PC.

I want to take Windows off the old drive, and keep it on the new one, without backing up or moving any files.

So, you want to open up a soda bottle without removing the bottle cap, but you just want to drink the liquid? GG

Wouldn't it just be quicker to move the files you want to keep temporarily to your system drive, format the old one, and then move the stuff back.

Is there any specific reason why you don't want to do this?

Now you are talking; you can just remove your old drive from your computer and set the pin to slave and erase all it´s contents. I´ve done it before and it works. Cheers.

P.S. Sorry if I was rude in my previous post, but you didn´t provide enough info.

This is what I would do. Get everything that I need from old HDD and put it in New HDD. Format old HDD, then put all stuff back to the Old HDD after clean format.

Now if you are trying to keep programs that are installed in the old HDD you might have to reinstall them again. They will not run. And I don't think you can just delete the OS without a format. Some files wont be able to get deleted manually.

Alright, transfer then format it is...

*sigh*

No worries about people "being rude" I re-read my post and it was really vague.
