i dunno how specific you are to "rock" but Me First and the Gimme Gimmes do punkrockish type remixes, also there are some punk goes metal, 80's, pop, and so on

Just FYI, a remix is done by a DJ; a cover is made by any other group without mixing or cutting the original content of a song. You are requesting covers, not remixes.

Hardly.

While some of those have admirable contributions to rock, classic rock has always been epitomized by The Rolling Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Boston, Eric Clapton, and Supertramp, to name a few.
