This car, the Aston Martin Rapide, has me very excited but also puzzled. It's so friggin' beautiful but I have one problem. How exactly do you pronounce "Rapide"? I can't tell and start thinking along the lines of "ra-pied" or "ra-pee-day" or "ray-pied." Any ideas on the correct pronunciation?

QFT&E.

See, the name is meant to evoke the old Dragon Rapide, which was effectively the first ever airliner, and a classic of 1930s elegant design, luxury, and above all, britishness, since that's an Aston Martin.
Pronouncing it wrong will just get you laughed at and considered just another stupid yank.

Seriously though, I looked it up and found just wanted to know how to pronounce it since there was no guide and I don't speak French.

strange an English company would go for a French name.
I thought they kind of disliked each other.

I'd like to think that Ford wouldn't curse any of their vehicles with a French name....especially a fine English made car like the Aston Martin.

Ford are trying to sell Aston Martin and the rumour was it went to a French Billionaire.

Perhaps that has something to do with it.
