So my son got Gears of War for the 360...I enjoyed watching him play, very cool game.  I played for a little while but was left with the overwhelming feeling of wanting to drop kick the controller across the street.  I suck with them, retarded fingers I guess.  So I researched several sites and forums for adapters (there is one that was consistently being mentioned) and discovered a pretty heated debate amongst the console players vs the PC players...thought I'd see what you fellers think.

As I'm pretty sure I'm going to purchase the device and do some console gaming (some of the 360 titles look pretty outrageous), the debate seems to be whether or not that would be cheating.  As I recognize that it's a game and personnally I don't see the big deal, I'd like to hear some thoughts from some of you console gamers; do you think a gamer would be "cheating" if he/she was using a keyboard and mouse on a console?

The only console I know of with Keyboard support is the Dreamcast.

Its been rumored that the 360 will have some eventual K/M support, but who knows.

No not cheating, but it would definitely give you an advantage.

LOL

Anyone who says it is cheating is basically admitting why FPS and many other of those types of titles are far superior on the computer. If all console games were released on PC too console sales would croak.

"Ain't that the truth!"
Without a doubt it gives you an advantage.

Have you ever seen someone playing quake 3 with a joypad? you would always notice them in the corner taking ages to do anything. Its the way you can whip you virtual self round like a 180 in a split second compared to the slow movement on a analog stick.

I googled a couple of You Tube vids on GoW with keyboard / mouse...I'd agree that there is an advantage with the mouse (targeting / turning), not too sure about the keyboard.  But I've seen some very...very good console players who, even at my best with a k/m setup, would make me look like a fool.

The 360 does have plug and play support with usb keyboards for typing text messages etc.

I'm sure a video game could use that keyboard input if it was coded to do such, but no one develops a console game thinking people will want to use a keyboard and mouse (yet.)

Was that part of their Linux Dev kit that they created, and nobody bought.  Also, I thought that the PS2 needed the K/M combo for Final Fanasty XI.

Here's the adaptor I was referring to...

http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/12316/Con … -Xbox-360/

For me anyway, it would definately allow me to better enjoy campaign modes of some titles I've been interested in.  Obviously, I'd be curious to try it out against other players in Live / multiplayer mode.  Rumor has it though, if it becomes too controversial (as in giving an unfair advantage in clan matches) M$ / Xbox would consider making a console patch that would somehow identify the player using the adaptor and not allow the player in the match...comments?

i've used my usb keyboard for typing shit on my 360. from that we can infer that its certainly able to recognize keyboard input.

therefore, get the adaptor and play dammit.
