i was just wondering if i have over 15 hours on ground defence and i then go commander whilst sitting on the ground defence will my arty kills count towards a vet ground defence badge? or do they need to be kills which i do?

They counted towards it for the ribbon so they probably will towards the badge too.

it does, got mine last night. Had to switch between tow and mg occasionally because of people in our UC
