I just reinstalled it using the inlcuded XP recovery software from HP.  I tried to do the thing to sign the licenses for Windows with the HP program for doing so.  It froze in the middle of the internet detection part.  Now it freezes when I start up Windows XP on that little green loading bar (this is XP SP1 which is why it is green and not blue like SP2) under the Windows XP thing at start-up.  It has done that the past two times that I reinstalled it today.

Wait.....what do you have to sign?
Might just be my memory but I can't remember signing anything when reinstalling SP1 or SP2. Maybe my ADD is kicking in but can you please try to be a little bit more clear?

You reinstalled Windows (or at least tried) but when it was trying to detect your internet connection it froze. So you powered off? Now everytime you try to install it just freezes?
Did it get through the installation & when you try to actually boot into Windows it freezes or it still freezes during the installation part?

Have you checked your disc for scratches & stuff? If it has any can you fix it (i use clear deodorant but they sell those spinny disc fixer things)?
Have you contacted HP tech support yet?

I meant checking the box for the lisence agreements.  It freezes when I try to finish the installation stuff.

how long did you wait? i remember on my HP (4 years ago, winxp home ed.) i had time to take a dump and everything before it went past that page.

and from what i remember, sp1 is blue, so is sp2, the color matters whether its home ed. or pro.
