Modem install help please

Got a BT Voyager 220V ADSL Voice Router from mate at work today, as it has Ethranet and my one (older version) is just USB. I plugged in Power cable, ehtranet cable and DSL cable, and lots of green lights come on, but in the task bar of my computer, the icon of it stays yellow (connecting)

Do you need drivers or what?

Thought Ethranet didnt need em

k, DSL modems sometimes do require a phone call to you ISP so they can register it as being yours. That being said, they usually do come with a cd to install with drivers on it. If you can get an IP address (something other than a 192.168.*.*) then, you should be able to ping out to say www.usatoday.com if that works, then you're on your way to recovery, if not, let us know so we can try something else.

Yeh we did that in work, the guy wrote IP down on paper, you want it?

Using someone elses IP wont work..

Make sure that in windows you have the IP config set to auto in network connections, otherwise it will be searching for an IP you havn't entered.
