okay so im playing bf2142 and bf2 today(not at the same time) and its lagging hardcore. now i just got a newer videocard with the newest drivers. i have all the setting on medium 1024x768 @60Hz, 2x AA, no effect lighting(or whatever its called, and the bottom that you check it if you want it). i play on low sets and its fine. i mean i know my rig isnt the greatest, but what the fuck is going on it should run medium ATLEAST.

amd athlon64 2.2GHz
80 gig HDD SATA 7200 rpms
1 gig ram(geil)
Nvidia 7800 GS OC
Cable internet.

any suggestions?

You need more RAM. BF2 plays much better on 2GB than 1.

Try removing the anti-aliasing. That tends to suck up a lot of system resources. Did you also try changing servers? How many people were playing in the server at the time? I play with just 1GB of ram and I'm smooth in a maxed out 64 player server so I doubt its his lack of ram. You also need to make sure that you have all your non-essential programs closed. One last question... what kind of power supply do you have?

i was lagging like crazy also for some reason i kept getting pings of 800 and more on servers that i usually have a 20 ping.it was driving me crazy trying to fly while lagging it was impossible.

That would simply be your internet service provider acting up. Happens to me on very rare occasions.

Do you get the same amount of lag if you play singleplayer ? If not then it's got nothing to do with RAM.

Do you share your cable connection with other people in the house ?

CPU-Z. If you have an AMD, its more than likely DDR-400 PC-3200 (DDR 1). Intel, who the hell knows, run the program.

As stated above, turn off AA and 2 gig or RAM. Day and night difference.

Except for the HDD, I have the same setup you have, and play with my settings maxed out with no lag. Suggetst you investigate your connection first, then how you hit the servers. Do you have any kind of router to steal bandwidth from you?

** okay, so I have 2 GB of RAM and a dual core 2.2 mhz CPU. I tried.

thanks for all the replies, i think it was my internet just acting up(which im not used to). however it think it had to do with the AA too, but i cant turn it off for some reason, i click it off, says saving, then it pops back up to 2x. yea ram would be nice too im sure. would another 1/2 gig be nice i dont want to dump more and more money into this aging machine.
