1. Does having a lower ping mean you are receiving more packets or bytes or whatever?

2. On average or a round about number, how many packets are sent in bf2? ( not really sure if that made any sense but im when you ping a server its 32 bytes etc etc. How many bytes is bf2 sending etc etc)

3. Could  having higher textures or Anti-aliasing cause connection problems due to packet loss?? or is packet loss caused by something completely different.

it means you're communicating with the sever faster.

millions, for all any of us know.

no. thats completely client side. the server has absolutely no idea what your video settings are.

Yes but communicating with the server faster means that your receiving more packets?

no.

its like driving a car down the street at 20 mph (100 ping) and 100mph (say, 30 ping).

it simply means that it reaches its destination sooner, usually because of a lack of distance in this case.

ahh ok.  So packet loss cannot be caused by the game in no way?

no, it can.

if the game is trying to send too much data at once, you're going to lose packets. to rectify this, go to options, and make sure you have the correct internet settings checked. (if you have DSL, dsl, T1, check T1, etc)

No, it just means that you are talking quicker, and transferring infromation quicker.  Not recieving more packets, as you are receiving the same number packets as someone with a high ping but a lot faster.  A lower ping, means that your "real time" information is more up to date then someone with a higher ping.

You can tell how many packets are sent to and from your computer by using a network sniffer.  Ethereal (sp?) is a free network sniffer that you maybe able to use.  I do not know if this will effect your game play, or your account, so use it at your own risk.

Having a higher graphic setting does not increase your packet loss.  A packet that is loss is usally due to a communitations issue, not a setting for your graphics.  Having higher graphics, can cause your ping rate to increase, if your system is lower then the recommended specs.  This is because your computer takes a little be longer to process the information, and display it to you, then return the information to the server.  So the transfer is a lot longer, even though you do not see it, because it is measured in millaseconds.
