*These suckers can maneuver something fierce; not the same dogfighting as in BF2, but of a different variety where running isn't the only option if you're being tailed.

So anyone else think anything needs to be changed, Make the Talon the new J-10?  Or should things stay is, fine-n-dandy balanced?  Discuss...go!
1) This isn't BF2. Stop comparing it. Get over it, and adapt.

2) The jets in BF2 were retarded anyways. Basically the only practical way of stopping the bomb, resupply, bomb whores was to get in a jet yourself and chase em. AA was very useless against the fast moving craft. I don't want to see more plane whores. If your not capable of fighting with two feet planted firmly on the ground, dont play a FPS.

Do you have to find fault with everything someone posts? And AA was actually quite good at taking out Jets on bf2, in the last patches. Plus, if you'd taken the time to read his post, he wasnt complaining about the jets.

2) I disagree, keeping high makes it easier to spot the enemy gunship(s), as well as avoid the Stray Tank Round.  Just dive down when you spot something or a tammate spots a vehicle.  The Exception to this would be on Sidi, where there's AA EVERYWHERE, and your only hope is low and fast.

For the first two weeks the game was out, I was in the top 200 of Gunship Pilots.  Then I got kinda distracted, so my rank has dropped quite a bit.
If the shield blocked the EMP and AA flak rounds it would be next to impossible to kill any air assets with them. As it is a pilot who knows what he is doing can avoid them so easily. On maps like Sidi with AA everywhere being low and fast is the worst possible tactic as EMP that hits you will cause you to crash into the ground or make you an easy target for the AA guns. Get up high where EMP won't make you crash and the AA guns will have a hard time hitting you. I am currently in the top 200 gunship pilots so trust me.

That's the beauty of the Battlefield series - both options are available.  I personally enjoy being infantry the most, but armor battles are just plain fun, too.  Always hated air combat myself.

I dropped BF2 around patch 1.3, so what you say has little meaning to me. What he IS doing is comparing BF2 to BF2142. Different game. Don't compare. Balance is everything. I personally can do well in the air, but its much harder to "whore" something in this game than it was in BF2 at least when it comes to aircraft. Most perfer it that way. I guess you wouldn't if you can't fight on the ground.

Okay, I'm stepping in to protect my own threat from Trolls and Flamers--both of which you fit under the category of Jo Barf.  When I started this thread, it was about discussing the role of airpower in 2142, and how it might be improved/nerfed; BF2 was a reference, not a comparison.  I stated my thing, people stated theirs, deal with it--we all have different opinions.

Shortly said, BF2 had dominating air power.  2142, you have to work a little harder to do that, but it is still doable if you have the skill to back you up, and a competent team as well.  Mods, close this stuff if this continues?
