Actually the Scuba diving one is true.

That and the skin used in most skin transplants is taken from children when they are circumcised, it's because it's not specifically adapted to anything so will almost never reject.

It is indeed because there fins are not the right shape to allow to swim backwards, as when they would try to move them into the right place to allow them to swim backwards, it would propel them forwards. The sea has no "natural" momentum. Although it is to do with the properties of water
