Yeah, in any mic test thing I do, the bar will only move if I put it directly to my lips... very annoying. Anybody know how to fix this?
Have you tried turning Mic Boost on?

I like how he went offline, like it worked and hes off to play bf2
Sorry, I was talking to a friend. And this isn't JUST for BF2 and BF2142. It's for like anything. How do I turn mic boost on?
"Bf2 sound settings < Sound < Mic boost on"
Go to your sound settings, select the mic, go to the advanced button. There's an option there to boost it too.
Some of you guys must not understand. I don't even play BF2 anymore. I just want this to work for BF2142, Teamspeak, AIM, Ventrillo, etc.

Bump.
Why not listen to all the above advice and turn mic boost on?
you also might wanna go to your audio settings in windows and make sure you have your mic turned up there as well
If you have a speaker icon in your task tray:
That is pretty much it for the basic configuration stuff. You could have card crawl (possible but not totally suspect) or a bad connection (try cleaning the cable plug?). It could also be that your mic is just plain fubar. Anyone else in your home have a mic you can try? If it works and yours doesn't well, ...there's your problem.
Hope that helps.
- Double click it.
- In the menu chose Options -> Properties
- Set the "Adjust Volume For" to Recording and make sure that the check box for the microphone is checked in the list below.
- Click OK
- Make sure the mic volume is 100%
- Under the menu click Options and if there is no check mark next to "Advanced Controls" click on it to enable them.
- Click the Advanced button under microphone and the check box to enable a 20 DB gain on the mic input.
- Click ok to get out of everything and try your mic in game and TS, etc.
- Go into Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices.
- On the first tab shown check the box for "Place Volume icon in the taskbar".
- Click OK
- Go and do the stuff up there.
