High Ping Problem

Ok, Sometimes Ill be playing Battlefield 2142 on a server and my ping will be normal around 20-45, but at other times in the day i'll be on the same server and my ping jumps all the way up to 1023 involuntarily. I try to join other servers when this happens but my ping is the same with an average of 300-400 ping sometimes. Most of the time my connection is fine but this happens every so often, does anyone know whats wrong?

Im using Verizon DSL, connecting to a modem through a router my sister also has a router that connects to the same modem. So its 2 routers connecting to one modem. I was thinking sharing the connection with my sister caused this but im not sure.

Could just be due to high traffic, depending on the time of day.

1 ur problem is verizon... verizon co has a caped bandwith. see if u have cable or FIOS in ur area

The FIOS in our area isn't capped

when my dad had it only when up to 142kbps and i was like my balls can go faster then that. looks like to me that using 2 routers may have a decrease in ur speed

Make sure you dont join aussie or euro servers as you will take a ping hit.
I've managed to play in them with a 120 ping but why when you can have a 10 ping.

Then again, I live in Australia and I get a ping on the AU server of 14.

yes the problem occurs whenever she goes on the computer, she goes on the phone also, so im thinking the problem is either her router or her phone usage or both.

i had the same problem. i had the best ping in my clan but sometimes ping went sky high even up to 900. then i unplugged the router and connected my PC directly to the modem and it worked great! so try that. i had no lag since then.
