Hellow, I hate posting stuff that has been discussed previously, but each quuestion on this is unique to the individual system so forgive me for asking, what PSU do I need?

The system in my sig was mine about two months ago, but there was a major hardware failure (just faulty parts) and now that my birthday is coming up I am checking out the prices of what I need, heres what I am after:

E6300 C2D
150GB Raptor HD
2GB 800Mhz Crosshair
Evga N680i
Nvidia 8800GTX/8900GTX (depening on how much the price shifts)
And some extra cooling and red neon lights which I dont suppose drain to much juice

Now, thing is, I do want it to be able of handling two 8800GTX in SLI, I wont be doing that (if atall) for months, but I want it to be able to handle two of them, rather than buying another PSU later.

Thing is though, I dont know a good PSU from a bad, what I am looking for?  Who is a reliable maker?  And finially for that system ^^^ what would u say I should go for?

Thanks very much

Martyn

Actually, yeah, you do need quite a bit. I would recommend 600W+

500W if it's a quality PSU

This would handle two 8800/8900's in SLi and it is £90 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … =CA-011-HP

You'd only need around 500W if you have a quality PSU. A quality PSU will probably have three or more +12V rails, with at least 20A per rail. You'd also want to buy from a quality brand only, like Antec, Hiper, Thermaltake, Enermax, etc.

500W will be plenty for two 8800GTX's in SLi. I recommend the Hiper 580W modular.

if you are planning on running two 8800 cards in sli your gonna need a beefy power supply with atleast dual 12 volt rails.

Minimum of a 450 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 28 Amps.)

i would not recommend anything below 700watts. don't skimp on the psu you it will fuck you big time.

yep my 580 modular hiper one rocks, tbh i wouldnt trust anything that is "free" when buying pc's eg "free" psu that comes with case, try and buy cases with no psu then buy a branded psu after or you get flied silicon in no time

Seasonic!!! especially on a 240v supply, if the power dips it wont shut the pc down and they are one of the best in the business.
