Well if you drive intoxicated a 100 times and you only get caugh 1 time. Some people might think they can take the risk and just continue to drive while intoxicated.
I was arrested a couple of years back for dui, while driving a moped. First time and last time i was ever arrested btw. You re allowed to have 2 glasses of beers over here and still drive and i had 3. I had to do a roadside breathtest and it showed that i had comsumed too much so i was arrested. No handcuffs btw or harsh talk/shoving me into their car or that kind of stuff. The cops were pretty nice to me, probably cause i was respectfull to them and cooperated.
Once at the police station, i was put in a holding cell and had to give up all my stuff, wallet, watch, cellphone and they searched my bag. They even wanted my shoelaces and belt lol. After about 45 minutes i had to do a final/more accurate breathtest and it showed i had one beer to many like i already told them. This resulted in a fine of 110 euro's and i wasnt allowed to drive for 4 hours so i had to walk home. After sitting in a holding cell at the station for about 1,5 hours, i was allowed to go home. They even gave me a lift back to my moped, which was pretty cool cause it was already 0330 in the morning.
I learned from this experience tho and i m certainly not proud of it. Nowadays when i still have to drive, i m ordering cola after i had 2 beers. Or i call a friend that lives close to our favorite bar if i can sleep over at his place when i m planning on drinking more then 2 beers.
