I know I need a disc to reformat & reinstall windows but isn't there a way to make one somewhere in the control panel?
I've been looking for the windows recovery disc for my laptop for 2 weeks now but have given up & I swear I made my own disc on my last laptop but I can't figure out how the hell to do it now.

Gateway wants like a billion dollars to send me a new one plus I'd have to wait another week or two until it actually got here & I have like uber A.D.D. so that's just not an option

Someone help....please, tell me there's a way...

Many laptops don't ship with media, and there is a partition on the HDD that contains the data to make one.  Check their technical support site for how to do it.  It's very likely in their FAQ.

As far as I know, if you do own the product, you can download it merely for an event like this. Don't hold me to this though.

Yes, along with music,

ex: you can download as many copies of a song as you want illegally, but it's legal as long as you have the same exact song on a purchased disc.

make sure, however, that the version you download is the same that your key is to.

for instance: your key is to sp1, but you download an sp2 cd. during the install, it will keep asking you to locate missing files and shit, and just wont work in the end.

if you have an sp1 key, use an sp1 cd.
