Will BF2 ever disappear?

I've been thinking about this for a while. As the saying goes "all good things come to an end" and so does this apply to BF2?

EA did a good job by putting in so many unlocks and ribbons/awards, but still, will the time come when, after we have extracted every last cent we paid for the game in money's worth, we come to a standstill and simply become bored of the game?

It can also be said that BF2 is starting to show its age. DX10 has come out, along with many excellent games. Give or take another 5 to ten years, and maybe DX 11 will follow. Such is the pace of technology.

So, will BF2 ever disappear, and when?

(And if BF2 disappears, what will become of this forum?)

The best way to look at it is: People stuck through with the game for 3-4 months of constant server crashing and CTD's. Its gonna take alot to make some people leave...

well, the good ppl stayed while the crap ones went to 2142, and once the stats go, all the stat whores will go and we will be left with some quality players and not so many dicks

Agreed, Rainbow six series (Even the original in 96) is still around.

Stats will die though.

Seriosly now... I think bf2 is a great game, even tought i know lots of people that dont like it (CS player more) and the #1 reason they tell me is....::::'' WTF is up wit this game you die and come back after few second''....... but i think till people like you and me will like it and play it... it will stay alive !!!!! but 2142 will die soon

Like ive said before,
Bf2 just has all those "did i just see that!?" moments...

..moments of timing and circumstance that others seems to lack...some things come out and then years later people say they were crap, but then theres those things that remain incredible due to original quality..you know what i mean...ie...beatles..stones...star wars..etc......Bf2

ALL the vehicles are fun and have their use,all the maps are excellent(fusche and songhua are my fav's)

I know guys still religiously playing 1942...it's there genre..they like it's style...

There will always be sheep buying the "new" game "this month" and telling everyone its the "best EVER!"

zzzzzzzzzz... people not content with anything...

Bf2 does and will always, Rock.

Look at Mario, Zelda, Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo, Doom, Quake, UT...the list goes on. There will be "classics" for the next generation to come. But as for now, BF2 isn't that old yet. There's still alot of people who're willing to make maps, mods and keep the community alive...atleast for the near future. Who know's what comes next. Maybe some VR BF2. that'd be pretty kick ass.

All things must come to an end, so yes. Any time in the near future, probably not. With DICE/EA's patches, however, you never know.
