Help with sound

So for a few weeks now my comp has been silly, somethings have sounds, some don't.

For example; xfire doesnt, msn does

Internet browsers dont (annoying wen wathcing vids), WMP does

Games do (phew!) and i dont think theres a log on/off sound either for windows

Anyone got any suggestions at all?

I noticed this was blank

Click apply, now every time I open op this window again it resets to blank, I thought this might have something to do with it.

*Edit:* I imagine you've tried to reinstall your audio drivers? Sigma is onboard sound, right?
If you haven't tried that (uninstall first, reboot, reinstall, reboot, try again) then I again recommend a reformat. I know everyone hates it but not too much can hide from a reformat.

*Edit2:* I was gonna try to be a nice guy & find the drivers for you just in case but Sigma Tel's driver page is "Temporarily Down for Maintenance" of course & without knowing what mobo you have it seems like there's alot of shit out there, sorry...
If it helps though I think your Windows title bars are pretty... Vista?

Did you figure out what the problem actually was? If so it would be nice of you to post it in case anyone else has the same problem.....but I guess that would actually require people to search if it was to be of any use which we both know will unfortunately never happen
